Considered Airport Grade due to their size, reflectivity and clarity. These beads meet Federal specification TT-B-1325D. High Index beads offer superior performance and durability due to their extremely smooth surfaces, greater than > 98 % roundness and less than 1% air inclusions which results in a very high refractive index of > 1.93. Size range 180-600 microns, sugar like consistencyHigh Index Micro beads–Type 3 micro-beads (less than < 100 microns) are our brightest smallest reflective micro-beads, manufactured using virgin glass. (Very fine texture like powdered sugar) These tiny High Index beads offer superior performance and durability due to their extremely smooth surfaces, greater than > 98 % roundness and less than 1% air inclusions which results in a very high refractive index of > 1.93. Our Standard DOT Reflective Glass Beads meet Federal specification TT-B-1325D for Type 1 glass bead applications. Our standard DOT reflective glass beads are exactly the same type used to create reflective paint for roads, parking lots, loading docks and pavement striping. Great texture and medium retro-reflective visibility for artist projects! Our “Airport Quality” Reflective Glass Beads meet Federal specification TT-B-1325D, Type IV/V (Graduation A&B). The Federal Aviation Administration approves these beads for airport pavement marking. Other creative uses include arts and crafts as well as marking potential hazards. “Airport Quality” glass beads have a larger gradation size than our standard DOT beads. They also have a higher percentage roundness (+95%), smooth surface and durable qualities which enhance reflective performance even under wet/night conditions. *Although these beads are approved for airport pavement markings, they are not as reflective as High Index Standard, which is a Type 3 "Airport Grade" bead. (TT-B-1325D Type III).Features Retro-reflective glass beads significantly improve visibility of pavement markings. Great texture and medium retro-reflective visibility for artist projects! Our “Powder” Reflective Glass Beads are our smallest TYPE 1 bead. They are used to create reflective paint for roads, marking curbs, parking lots, garages, loading docks as well as pavement striping. Other uses include arts and crafts, sandblasting, preening as well as marking potential hazards.Features Retro-reflective glass beads significantly improve visibility of pavement markings. Drivers clearly see the color and size of pavement/curb markings reflecting from their headlights Great texture and retro-reflective visibility for artist projects! Size: 100-200 US Mesh (75-150 microns) MIL SPEC 10/11 Reflective glass beads should be spread directly on to wet paint ether by hand or with a line-striping dispenser. If you are applying the glass beads by hand, simply sprinkle the beads over the fresh paint. You will need to make sure beads are applied while the paint is still wet otherwise, they may not adhere properly. Reflective glass beads can be used with glues, adhesives, oil or water based paints. Cole Safety estimates that you will need approximately 5 to 6 pounds of our reflective glass beads, for every 1 gallon of paint you use.
